giraffe and baby 1600Open  Letter To Canadians

As I have since 1980, I am in Geneva participating in CITES.

As one of three co-founders in 1993 of the Species Survival Network, please find formatted versions of the SSN CoP18 Digest at the links below which reflect The Humane Society of Canada's position along with the 90 strong animal/environmental protection groups worldwide.

Federal government studies have shown that over 95% of Canadians support the protection of wildlife and nature.  And that Canadians would contribute up to $ 400,00 to protect a single polar bear.

6 out of 10 Canadians share their homes with a family pet and based upon our 50 years of experience, that number is actually closer to 8 out of 10 families (some families can not have pets due to allergies, landlord, and lifestyle time commitments). We and our more than 37 million fellow Canadian children, women and men from all walks want to know precisely and ensure that the positions you as Head of the Delegation are taking on their behalf using their hard-earned tax dollars reflect their concerns and values about protecting wildlife and nature at home and abroad.

The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) works to protect dogs, cats, horses, birds, rabbits and small animals, livestock, lab animals, wildlife and the environment. We carry out hands-on programs to help animals and nature, mount rescue operations, expose cruelty through hard-hitting undercover investigations, work to pass laws to protect animals, use a multidisciplinary approach, support animal shelters, and wildlife rehabilitation centers, and spread the word about how to help animals and nature through humane education.

The only organization of its kind, seven days a week, The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) works across the street, across Canada, and around the world helping people, animals, and the environment.

The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) depends entirely on donations to support our programs to help animals and the environment. All donations are gratefully acknowledged with a receipt for income tax purposes. If you would like to support our educational campaigns that protect animals and the environment please make a donation here. Because when it comes to fighting cruelty and violence, we don’t give up. Ever.
