VANCOUVER, DECEMBER 24/2012 - As families have for more than 50 years, children and their parents eagerly awaiting the arrival of Santa and his reindeer can watch them as they travel around the world spreading joy and Christmas cheer relying on the high tech folks at NORAD The Humane Society of Canada (HSC). “That wonderful bond between Santa, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and of course Rudolph reminds us once of that special age old bond between people and animals, “ says All Hickey, HSC Western Regional Director.

Even at Christmas, some people can still find time to be cruel to animals. When a woman went to the dumpster behind her building, amidst all the bags of garbage, she heard a frantic cry for help. Tearing open the bag, she found a beautiful orange ball of fur inside. Bedraggled and helpless, someone had left this poor little ten week old kitten to die of cold and starvation.
