Bretagne, the last known Ground Zero search-and-rescue dog passed away at the age of 16 on June 6, 2016. One of about 300 dogs who took part in rescue efforts following 9/11, Bretagne served with Texas Task Force 1 and also helped with rescue efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in her impressive record of service.
