May 2, 2011, TORONTO – The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) is hoping that a $1,000 reward being offered through their Victims of Cruelty Program will help to bring to justice the person responsible for shooting a Yorkshire Terrier in its owner’s backyard in Brampton on April 29th, 2011. The reward is for information resulting in the conviction of those responsible for killing this dog.

Animal welfare allegations concerning Guzoo Farm, Three Hills, Alberta,
The Humane Society of Canada welcomes the decision to not renew the licence for Guzoo Farms. However, we are concerned that the decomissioning period of one week will not be sufficient time to place these animals in new and appropriate facilities.
Please read our letter to Premier Ed Stelmach in regard to this issue.
Earlier in March, Michael O'Sullivan, Chairman & CEO of the Humane Society of Canada spoke directly with the Office of Premier Ed Stelmach on the need to close this facility and conduct a full investigation of the property; he followed up with a letter March 30th following new information, one on March 29th as well as a letter on March 28th.

Donations Urgently Needed to Help Animal Victims of the Japanese Earthquake Says HSC
20 March 2011, TORONTO – The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) is asking for donations to help the animal victims of the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami that devastated the country of Japan recently. In order to ensure that injured and lost animals are cared for and to help people affected by this natural disaster care for their pets, The Humane Society of Canada has begun coordinating relief efforts to help these affected animals and those who care for them.
