Stray Beluga Whale Offers Fisherman Hope in Cancer Fight

In a rare instance, a wild beluga whale appears to have become attached to a fisherman undergoing cancer treatment. Off the shores of Hokkaido, Japan where Yoichi Ishigaki, 55, farms scallops, the beluga's endearing presence on repeated trips has been an empowering and hopeful spirit in his fight against cancer he says. Last Known Ground Zero Rescue Dog's Life Comes To An End

Bretagne, the last known Ground Zero search-and-rescue dog passed away at the age of 16 on June 6, 2016. One of about 300 dogs who took part in rescue efforts following 9/11, Bretagne served with Texas Task Force 1 and also helped with rescue efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in her impressive record of service. Discovering How Fish and Clean Water Can Protect Coral Reefs

A culmination of human and environmental factors converge and attribute to acidification and huge bleaching events. A new study examining local and global stressors on corals found that abundant herbivorous fishes and clean water are key to helping coral reefs survive increasingly stressful normal ocean temperatures. Airline Industry Pledges to Partner with Authorities to Fight Against Wildlife Trafficking

The 72nd International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting acknowledged that the illegal wildlife trade threatens the survival of many endangered species and vowed to work with government authorities and conservation organizations in the fight against traffickers of endangered animals.
