From left to right is "L.B." our 7 year old spayed German Shepherd who was a rescue case. "Pasha" our 8 year old spayed female Himalayan cat that was rescued from an abusive owner. Weighing in at just 10 pounds she makes it clear every day that "You are not the boss of me." Hiding in the background is "Ashe", our 17 year old tabby cat who we rescued on our honeymoon, seconds before a gravel truck nearly ran over this abandoned kitten. Then there's "Sionniach" (Gaelic for 'fox'), this brave little guy has been with us for 9 years. Hit by a car, he survived for over a week lying in a culvert eating grass and drinking ditch water. He gets around fine on three legs. Next to him is "Chewie" a one year old neutered male crossbred husky. During a trip to Vietnam chasing wildlife smugglers, I visited a meat market in Hanoi, and along with a couple of his buddies, they all applied for Canadian citizenship. And then finally, there's "Taiga" our 8 year old neutered male Siberian Husky. Hunters were taking potshots at this 'wolf.' Their marksmanship was directly related to their alcohol intake, so instead of being mounted in somebody's 'dead room' he lives with us. They are loved unconditionally by our two wonderful children, Pierce and Elan, and by my wife, Lise, who works to help people in need.
