A new report has found that the continued destruction of habitat, deforestation, overfishing, hunting, climate change and pollution around the world are staging a mass extinction of wildlife globally. Animal populations between 1970 and 2012 have decreased by 58% and are projected to reach 67% by 2020. Such a staggering loss of wildlife has not occurred for millions of years on planet Earth and the effects could be devastating to the long-term biodiversity of the planet.
