October 25, 2011, VANCOUVER – Halloween is a lot of fun for children, but it can be a terrifying time, and even a dangerous one, for many pets says The Humane Society of Canada (HSC). The national animal charity is asking that people ensure that their animal companions don't suffer during Halloween.
The Humane Society of Canada would like to thank the Cathedral Church of St James for their invitation to attend their annual Blessing of the Animals ceremony. Held on the first saturday of the month, close to the feast of St. Francis of Assissi, the Blessing of the Animals celebrates the importance of pets in people's lives, and remembers the lessons of St Francis.
The Humane Society of Canada has written to the Mayor of the City of Canmore concerning the fate of the Canmore Bunnies.
In Canada, all animals are protected against cruelty both federally, under the Criminal Code of Canada, and provincially as well.
