The Humane Society of Canada would like to congratulate the Nova Scotia Vet Medical Association for its decision to end the practice of docking and cropping dog's ears for purely cosmetic purposes. Starting April 1, 2010, Nova Scotia joins New Brunswick, PEI and Newfoundland and Labrador in banning such surgical practices.

June 11, 2010, TORONTO – The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) is hoping that a $1,000 reward being offered through their Victims of Cruelty Program will help to bring to justice the person or persons responsible for killing several animals and stealing a baby goat from the Happy Rolph’s Bird Sanctuary in St Catharines. The reward is for information resulting in the conviction of those responsible for these killings and the theft.
