Bretagne, the last known Ground Zero search-and-rescue dog passed away at the age of 16 on June 6, 2016. One of about 300 dogs who took part in rescue efforts following 9/11, Bretagne served with Texas Task Force 1 and also helped with rescue efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in her impressive record of service. VANCOUVER, July 11, 2016 - The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) is once again asking Canadians and companies not to support the cruel animal spectacles that form a part of rodeos like the Calgary Stampede which takes place this year July 8-17.
Corals and fish inhabiting the Great Barrier Reef are succumbing more and more to disease and illness due to warming oceans and increasing acidity, possibly leading to more human illness as well.
