April 22, 2012, VANCOUVER – Sunday is Earth Day and a reminder that with only one planet to call home, everyone needs to pitch in and make sure that we treat every day as Earth Day says The Humane Society of Canada (HSC).
"Animal companions who are frightened of loud noises and bright flashes react in any of a number of ways," says Michael O'Sullivan, HSC Executive Director. "Some pets become anxious or nervous while other are terrified and try to escape – running the risk of becoming lost or injuring themselves," suggests O'Sullivan. "These animals need comforting and to be protected from potential harm."

October 1, 2011 VANCOUVER – October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and The Humane Society of Canada (HSC) is asking people help these homeless animals first before looking to a breeder or a pet shop for their next special family member. A study carried out by the Health Pets 21 Consortium and the Purina Institute surveyed 1,001 dog owners and 1,000 cat owners and found that only 15% of owners found their pets at a shelter.
