Canada is a signatory party to more than 125 international treaties and agreements.
The Humane Society of Canada monitors the deliberations of as many of these treaties as possible, and this involves the review and analysis of thousands of scientific reports, public policy documents, and intercessional and COPs (Conferences of the Parties) in order to help formulate and implement initiatives to help animals and nature. The staff of The Humane Society of Canada have been and are accredited observers to international treaty negotiations that include CITES (Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species), the IWC (International Whaling Commission), Rio Earth Summit, Rio + 10 Earth Summit, FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations).
For more than 35 years, the staff of The Humane Society of Canada have been working across the country and around the world protecting Canadian interests and lending Canadian expertise to help people, animals and the environment.
